Michelle Obama’s Right Hand Emerald Ring

There are many people out there who like a bit of bling.  One of the most popular nowadays are right hand emerald rings.  Michelle Obama was bought a huge genuine emerald ring as as a “thank you” by her husband, Barrack Obama for her support as he successfully campaigned for president of United States of America.
Antique emerald rings are sometimes bought as gifts or as a statement of success, but often as engagement rings.   A woman will have a right hand genuine emerald ring made for herself to indicate that she has been successful in her chosen field, and often she will have status and cache as well.  In both cases, the symbol carries the same meaning.  Just as silver emerald rings on the left hand “ring finger” symbolize “taken”, rings on the right ring finger indicate a particular thing.
The President had the ring designed for his wife by Giovanni Bosco, who is behind many of the jewelry designs that you will see adorning A List Celebrities the world over.  The ring was on the pricy side – $30,000 – and was constructed using rhodium and diamonds.  That’s a year’s average salary attached to one finger….  He also had a mens emerald ring made to match.
Rhodium is one of the most rare and pricy metals known on the face of the Earth, and is closely related to Platinum.  It has a higher per ounce price than gold, as there is a lot less of it on the planet.  It is usually used in combination with white gold and/or platinum, as they create an alloy which is highly reflective, and also strengthens the metal and protects it from wear and damage.  This process is called Rhodium Flashing.
Mrs Obama has set many tongues wagging with this latest addition to her outfits, as it is a far cry from her down to earth fashion tastes which she has so far exhibited so far as first lady.
